Phosphate Knockdown
High phosphates feed algae and force your chlorine to work overtime. Our two-visit treatment knocks them down: we start by cleaning your filter, then dose a commercial-strength phosphate remover and run your system to pull the phosphates out of the water. We return to vacuum out any fallout, clean the filter again, and re-test. Salt pool? Pentair specs phosphates under 125 ppb for your chlorine generator.
$488
Maintenance Visits
Includes:
- Professional phosphate test before treatment (sets your exact dose)
- Filter cleaned first so it can capture the treatment
- Commercial-strength phosphate remover, dosed to your reading and pool volume
- System runs continuously to pull the phosphates out of your water
- Return visit to vacuum any fallout to waste and clean the filter again
- 48-hour re-test to verify your new phosphate level
Mustard Algae Knockout
Mustard algae looks like sand or pollen clinging to your walls and floor: it brushes off in a cloud, drifts right back, and shrugs off everyday chlorine levels. Our two-day knockout clears it the right way. Day one we brush every surface, restore proper circulation and filtration, and treat with a professional copper-based algaecide. Day two we return and vacuum the dead algae straight out of the system (never back through your filter), rebalance, and reset your sanitizer. Mustard algae reseeds from toys, floats, and gear, so we treat those in the pool during treatment. That step is the difference.
$688
Maintenance Visits
Includes:
- Water test and full inspection to confirm mustard algae
- Entire pool skimmed and every surface brushed: walls, floors, corners, steps, ladders, low-flow areas
- Circulation and filtration verified, filter backwashed or cleaned if flow is poor
- Professional copper algaecide treatment through the skimmer
- Brushes, nets, toys, floats, and gear treated in the pool so they cannot reseed it
- Next-day return visit: dead algae vacuumed to waste, straight out of the system
- Final rebalance, filter service, and sanitizer reset
Black Algae Remediation
Black algae is the toughest algae a pool can grow. It roots into plaster and armors itself with a protective outer layer that everyday chlorine cannot penetrate, so it never clears in a single visit. Our remediation hits it fast and keeps hitting it: up to 4 visits over about 10 days, with aggressive stainless brushing to break through the armor, direct chlorine treatment on every colony, and a sustained shock re-boosted at every visit so it never loses strength. We finish with a professional chelated copper algaecide. Speed and consistency are what kill black algae, so we come back every 2 to 3 days until it is gone. Additional visits are $148 each if your pool needs them.
$1,288
Maintenance Visits
Includes:
- Water test and a full surface inspection to map every colony
- Stainless-steel brushing to break the protective layer (surface-safe brushes on vinyl and fiberglass)
- Direct chlorine treatment on each colony
- Sustained shock, re-boosted every visit so it never drops (liquid chlorine)
- Dead algae vacuumed out and the filter cleaned
- Professional chelated copper algaecide finish
- Final rebalance and re-test
- Up to 4 visits over about 10 days ($148 each additional visit)
Salt Cell Cleaning

- Uniformed Pool Techs in Bright, Branded Trucks

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide chemicals or do I need to buy my own?
All chemicals are included in our Valet packages (chlorine, pH adjusters, alkalinity, stabilizer, shock, algaecide, everything) up to the seasonal allowance on your plan: $1,500 a year on pool plans, $500 a year on spa plans. For one-time services like a single valet visit or a one-off cleaning, we bring the chemicals with us and you only pay for what we actually add, at the prices listed on our Chemical Pricing page.
What does Puddle Pool Services do?
We provide full-service pool and spa maintenance for residential and commercial customers in Monmouth County, NJ. Our services include weekly valet maintenance, seasonal openings and closings, deep cleans, equipment repairs, safety cover installations, and chemical management.
When should I open my pool?
Most Monmouth County pools open between mid-April and Memorial Day. Opening earlier — when water is still cool — prevents algae growth and makes the startup easier. We recommend booking by late March to lock in your preferred date.
What is a Valet package?
Valet is our all-inclusive pool or spa maintenance subscription. It covers your full swim season: opening, weekly service visits, all chemicals, and closing — bundled into one predictable monthly payment. No surprise bills for chemicals or seasonal services.
When should I close my pool?
Most Monmouth County pools close between late September and late October. The ideal time is when water temperature consistently drops below 65°F — warm enough to work comfortably but cool enough that algae growth has slowed. Do not wait for a hard freeze — frozen plumbing is the #1 cause of expensive winter damage.
How much does a pool closing cost?
Our standard pool closing starts at $448. Pricing varies by pool size, equipment complexity, and whether you need a cover installed. Valet customers get closings included.
What is included in each Valet visit?
Every visit includes skimming, vacuuming, brushing walls, emptying baskets, backwashing the filter as needed, full water chemistry testing and adjustment, and a detailed e-report emailed to you with before/after photos and all readings.
How do you test the water?
We use professional-grade spin testing for every visit, which measures chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, and more. Results are included in your e-report so you always know exactly where your water chemistry stands.
How much does a pool opening cost?
Our standard pool opening starts at $448. Final pricing depends on pool size, equipment complexity, and current water condition. Valet customers get openings included in their package.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Monmouth County and parts of Middlesex County, NJ. Our primary service area includes Colts Neck, Holmdel, Rumson, Fair Haven, Little Silver, Middletown, Marlboro, Manalapan, Freehold, and surrounding towns. Check our service area map for the full list.
What if my pool is green when you open it?
No problem — we offer green-to-clean recovery as an add-on or standalone service. Heavy algae, debris, or neglect just means extra treatment steps. We will get it swimmable.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We hold NJ Home Improvement Contractor license #13VH13817500 and carry comprehensive general liability insurance. Our technicians are CPO (Certified Pool Operator), CPI, and CST certified.
What is an e-report?
After every service visit, we email you a detailed report that includes before and after photos, timestamps, water chemistry readings, chemicals added, equipment notes, and any issues found. Full transparency — you always know what we did and what your pool looks like.
Can I cancel my Valet subscription?
Valet packages run for a set season (18 weeks for pools, 12 months for spas). You can cancel anytime, but there are no partial refunds for unused visits. We offer both prepay (5% discount) and monthly installment options.
What happens if I do not close my pool properly?
Frozen water expands and can crack pipes, pump housings, filter tanks, and heater heat exchangers. A burst underground pipe can cost thousands to locate and repair. Proper winterization is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
How do I schedule a consultation?
All of our pricing is published right on our website — no hidden fees, no surprises. You can also request a consultation through our contact page or call us at (888) 282-2590.
Do I need a safety cover?
Not technically, but we strongly recommend it. A safety cover protects kids and pets, keeps debris out all winter, and makes your spring opening dramatically easier. Check out our safety cover page for options and instant pricing.
Do I need to be home for the opening?
Not usually. As long as we have access to the pool and equipment, we can complete the opening without you. We will send you a summary of what we did and any issues we found.
Is the opening included with Valet service?
Yes. Every Pool Valet package includes the opening (first visit) and closing (last visit) as part of your 18-week season.
